Sherrard contracts with Trinity for ambulance service
Written by Administrator
Monday, 01 February 2010
The district board of trustees for the Sherrard Fire Protection District voted to accept a contract with Trinity Ambulance Service to provide 24 hour ALS (advanced life support) ambulance service beginning in March of 2010.
This service replaces the existing volunteer BLS (basic life support) ambulance service that was previously available.
The district has been unable to staff enough volunteer EMT's to be able to adequately staff the service.
Trinity will be basing an ambulance at the Sherrard Fire Station for most of the time. This should improve service for our residents by providing faster response times, as well as paramedic level services.
The existing volunteers will still be dispatched as first responders to assist and provide immediate care.

ambulance service. The meeting will be
held at the fire station at 101 E 1st Street, Sherrard IL.
The Sherrard Volunteer Ambulance Service, has struggled
in recent years with recruitment of new personnel for the ambulance
service. Emergency Medical Technicians
(EMT) have especially been in short-supply.
